Mr Douraid Abbas is a highly regarded Consultant Specialist General Surgeon
recognised for his advanced technical expertise, patient-centred philosophy, and
commitment to delivering exceptional surgical outcomes. With extensive
experience across general surgery, endoscopy, and metabolic (bariatric) surgery
and a strong reputation for clinical excellence, Mr Abbas’ focuses on delivering
safe, minimally invasive surgical treatment that promote faster recovery, reduced
complications, and optimal long-term outcomes.
Mr Abbas completed his medical degree before undertaking rigorous specialist
surgical training, culminating in Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of
Surgeons (FRACS). He has further refined his expertise through advanced
fellowship training in bariatric and minimally invasive surgery, allowing him to offer
modern, highly specialised treatment options using the latest laparoscopic and
endoscopic techniques.
Mr Abbas performs a wide range of general surgical procedures and maintains a
special interest in metabolic and weight-loss surgery, supporting patients with
complex obesity and related medical conditions. He is committed to evidencebased,
multidisciplinary care and works closely with general practitioners,
physicians, dietitian’s, psychologists, and allied health professionals to ensure

professional development. He serves as a Senior Lecturer at the University of
