Dr Ruth Ingrid Sturmey

Dr Sturmey is a very experienced psychologist and counsellor who works with individuals, couples and families. She is a specialist in intimate and family relationships, emotion regulation and ‘mood disorders’.
She also works with serious mental health conditions, compulsive behaviours, suicidality, sexual difficulties, trauma, and issues around life meaning, aging, sickness and death.
Sessions referred by a General Practitioner under a Mental Health Care Plan are eligible for partial Medicare reimbursement.

Mr Danny Bryant
MPsych, MAPS, Registered Clinical Psychologist

Mr Danny Bryant has a Master of Psychology and is an experienced Clinical Psychologist who previously worked at Victoria Police for 6 years before commencing full-time private practice in 2008. He also has experience in treating oncology patients, having provided group therapy at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Alfred Hospital for men who have suffered prostate cancer. He has training and experience in a range of therapeutic approaches including brief, symptom focused interventions, such as cognitive behavioural therapy and interpersonal therapy. He is also able to offer psychoanalytic focused treatment, which may suit those patients who have not responded to briefer, symptom-focused interventions

Dr Nick Mumford
MPsych, PhD, MAPS, Registered Psychologist

Dr Nick Mumford is a registered psychologist who has completed a Master of Counselling Psychology, and PhD, and has worked at for 4 years at Monash IVF conducting mandated counselling and therapy with couples undergoing assisted reproductive treatments. Nick also has experience in working with youth mental health issues, and with patients who have experienced trauma, especially acquired brain injuries. In his practice Nick has experience using different therapeutic methods. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), including specialist training in modern CBT methods, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), as well as Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). These methods are suitable for short-term, solution-focussed work, or more long-term therapy with patients who require ongoing care.

Caren Brand

Caren holds a Masters degree in psychology and has been working as a psychologist for over 15 years. 

She has worked in adolescent mental health (including at the Albert Road Centre for Health, Albert Road Clinic, Wesley College, Elwood Secondary College and headspace) and has worked in private practice with adult clients for over ten years. 

Her areas of expertise include working with people who present with high prevalence disorders (anxiety and depression), grief and loss, life transition issues, coping with illness, stress management, alcohol and drug use, relationship issues and couple counselling, and parenting. 

Caren has a particular interest in sports psychology and in working with clients in the performing arts, and she is currently producing a documentary examining mental health in performing artists. 

Caren uses a range of therapeutic approaches, including a psychodynamic orientation, cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness, schema therapy, solution focussed therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy.  She does believe, however, that the therapeutic relationship is paramount to good outcomes in patients.
