Roger is a Credentialled Diabetes Educator and Registered Nurse and has worked in the diabetes field for more than 20 years.
This has included work in Clinical Research, General Practice Clinics, Community Health Centres, Private Practice and camps for children with type 1 diabetes.
He has also worked in a wide range of other areas and prior to entering the diabetes field was a Clinical Nurse Specialist in cardiac nursing.
Roger has extensive experience in working with people with type 1 and type 2 Diabetes, Gestational Diabetes and Impaired Glucose Tolerance. His areas of interest include diabetes prevention, introductory diabetes self managment education, weight management, gestational diabetes management, working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, commencement and titration of insulin and other injected medication, continuous glucose monitoring and insulin pumps.
His approach is focused on patient motivation and empowerment, helping patients to make informed choices and develop strategies and skills to achieve their goals. He works closely with other medical and allied health services to support co-ordinated clinical management.
